Ontario Provincial Police launched an investigation last Friday in search for graffiti artists responsible for spray painting hate speech on the parking lot of St. Anne Catholic High School.
The vandalism was found the day after the school hosted its annual LGBT support day.
The school administration believe that the crime may be tied to online altercations that flared up between students of opposing opinion regarding the topic.
Grade 11 student Zouzou Mekkaoui was shocked when she heard about what had unfolded.
“I used to think that we had a safe school environment, but after what had occurred with the graffiti and the twitter beef (arguments) beforehand I realized that I was wrong.”
Police are asking anyone willing to provide anonymous information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
